Ecovacs X2 Upgrade

Ecovacs rolled out an intra-app upgrade (thank you, Ecovacs!) for X2 Omni owners that helps us tap into the robot vacuum’s existing Matter support (v1.2). Before and after the intra-app upgrade, I find my X2 robots are running firmware version 1.81.13.

Matter support in HomeKit is gained within your Ecovacs app:

  • Launch the Ecovacs app and tap the bracketed minus sign in the upper right corner of your app’s display (do not tap “Enter” for a robot, if you go that far the bracketed minus sign goes away).
  • Next, scan this QR code:

  • After the upgrade, tap “Enter” for one of your robots.
  • Tap the hex shape with a circle inside, this icon is in the upper right corner of the app.
  • Scroll down to the option “Matter Ecosystem”, between “Live View Settings” and “Help”.
  • When a Matter code appears on the app screen with two buttons “Copy the pairing code” and “Add to AppleHome”, select “Add to AppleHome”.
  • I did these steps and added a robot to my Matter ecosystem. Within the Apple HomeKit app, a tile for the robot appears. When I tap the tile, HomeKit says: “This accessory is not currently supported by the Home app.” This is because my iPhone still has iOS 18.0.1 on it, getting up to 18.4 or higher should drop this error message.
