{"id":421,"date":"2017-02-09T15:55:06","date_gmt":"2017-02-09T21:55:06","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.schwie.com\/brad\/?p=421"},"modified":"2017-02-09T15:55:06","modified_gmt":"2017-02-09T21:55:06","slug":"ignore-software-updates","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.schwie.com\/brad\/?p=421","title":{"rendered":"Ignore Software Updates"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The App Store\u00a0seems to handle several apps and keeping them updated, but other apps I just don&#8217;t want\u00a0the App Store to\u00a0bothering me about.<\/p>\n<p>If\u00a0you\u00a0have a similar issue, open up Terminal.app, paste in the following command, and press enter:<\/p>\n<p>softwareupdate &#8211;list<\/p>\n<p>It will take a while to churn out a list, it will churn out something like this:<\/p>\n<p>BCS-MBP-2:~ brad$ softwareupdate &#8211;list<\/p>\n<p>Software Update Tool<\/p>\n<p>Copyright 2002-2015 Apple Inc.<\/p>\n<p>Finding available software<\/p>\n<p>Software Update found the following new or updated software:<\/p>\n<p>* macOS Sierra Update-10.12.3<\/p>\n<p>macOS Sierra Update (10.12.3), 1024181K [recommended] [restart]<\/p>\n<p>* iTunesXPatch-12.5.5<\/p>\n<p>iTunes (12.5.5), 113476K [recommended]<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>If you notice\u00a0the title of the software app you no longer want to be bothered with,\u00a0copy it and insert its name into the following Terminal command:<\/p>\n<p>softwareupdate &#8211;ignore iTunesXPatch-12.5.5<\/p>\n<p>Unfortunately, softwareupdate &#8211;list doesn&#8217;t seem to be showing third party software apps at the moment &#8211; I&#8217;ll report back if I figure this\u00a0out, otherwise, dear readers, please\u00a0drop a comment below.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The App Store\u00a0seems to handle several apps and keeping them updated, but other apps I just don&#8217;t want\u00a0the App Store to\u00a0bothering me about.
