If you’re running Adobe Illustrator CS5 on Mac OS X El Capitan, you may be plagued by the bug where Illustrator crashes hard when you try to normally\u00a0quit it:<\/p>\n

Perusing Adobe’s forums revealed this post<\/a> with a workaround, which\u00a0can be reduced to the following fix:<\/p>\n

  1. Quit Illustrator if it is open.<\/li>\n
  2. Open “Terminal.app”.<\/li>\n
  3. Paste the following command at the prompt:sudo mv \/Library\/Application\\ Support\/Adobe\/CS5ServiceManager\/lib \/Library\/Application\\ Support\/Adobe\/CS5ServiceManager\/lib.bak<\/li>\n
  4. Enter your password when prompted and then press “enter”.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Try launching Illustrator CS5 and then quit it.\u00a0Hard crashes should be a thing of the past.<\/p>\n

    And for those not wanting to use Terminal, double click your hard drive icon on the desktop, and navigate to Library->Application Support->Adobe->CS5ServiceManager. Click on the folder named “lib” and rename it to “lib.bak”. You may be\u00a0prompted for your password on your Mac.
