{"id":1700,"date":"2024-03-19T21:46:47","date_gmt":"2024-03-20T03:46:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.schwie.com\/brad\/?p=1700"},"modified":"2025-10-08T20:48:05","modified_gmt":"2025-10-09T02:48:05","slug":"update-vpn-enabler","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.schwie.com\/brad\/?p=1700","title":{"rendered":"Update VPN Enabler"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Similar to how I updated <a href=\"https:\/\/www.schwie.com\/brad\/?p=1670\">Cutedge Systems&#8217; php<\/a>, VPN Enabler for Monterey can also be updated to deprecate SHA1 and add support for SHA256 connections with supported VPN clients \u2013 the default is SHA1, which was blocked by most VPN software clients in late-2023.<\/p>\n<p>To update VPN Enabler&#8217;s easy-rsa, we must update pkitool through these instructions:<\/p>\n<p>1. Open Terminal.app and enter the following commands:<\/p>\n<p>cd \/usr\/local\/cutedge\/openvpn\/easy-rsa<br \/>\nsudo pico pkitool<br \/>\n*enter your password when prompted*<\/p>\n<p>2. Press the control key and &#8220;w&#8221; and type in SHA1, then press the return key.<\/p>\n<p>3. When the pico text editor brings your cursor to SHA1, change it to SHA256.<\/p>\n<p>4. Find out where \/usr\/local\/cutedge\/openvpn\/easy-rsa is.
